I consider myself fairly fit and strong (I am a physician, male and 47yo). But even since my teens I have been unable to swim the length of an Olympic pool underwater. It’s not strength, it’s air hunger. Friends of similar build and activity can swim TWO lengths without problem, but I cannot.
